In this intermediate badminton training video, Coach Chen Weihua goes over the badminton net lift. During defensive situations, the net lift can be used to move your opponent to their rear court giving yourself time to recover and possibly turn the game around. The forehand net lift is similar to the forehand service, except the net lift is performed from an arrow stance. While in the arrow stance, lead the swing with the upper arm and use the forearm to generate power. Most of the power comes from the forearm and not the wrist. If you try to use the wrist before the forearm movement is complete, the shuttle will only reach midcourt. At the completion of the swing, bring the racket back to the body towards the left shoulder. You can also return a drop shot with the net lift. The motions are basically same. When returning a near-net drop, sweep the badminton racket upwards instead of forward. Sweeping upward will direct the power upward. If the badminton racket is swung at an angle, you might touch the net or the shuttle may not go over the net. "
